RomyBot
romy's bot reads public product data from the shops whose products appear in romy.
What it is
romy turns a photo of a room into a makeover made of real products from partner home shops. Every product is shown with its price and a link to buy it on the shop's own site. RomyBot is the program that keeps those products up to date.
What it reads
- Your robots.txt, about once a day, before anything else. It skips every page your rules block for RomyBot, or for all bots under *.
- Your public product list (on Shopify, /products.json).
- The product pages and photos of items romy shows, to keep sizes, prices and availability right.
- Once, when your shop is first added: your shipping countries and currency (/meta.json).
What it never does
It never adds to a cart, checks out, or logs in, and collects no personal data.
How gently
At most one request per second to any shop, or less often if your robots.txt sets a longer Crawl-delay (honoured up to 5 minutes). It pauses when a shop answers 429 and waits as long as Retry-After asks.
How to recognise it
Its User-Agent is:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; RomyBot/1.0; +https://romy.app)Anyone can copy a User-Agent, so every request from our servers is also signed with Web Bot Auth. The Signature-Agent is https://romy.app, and the public key is at:
https://romy.app/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directoryOpt out or ask a question
Email support@romy.app with your shop's address. We stop reading your shop and take your products out of romy. To block only some pages, disallow them for RomyBot in your robots.txt: it stops reading them within a day, and products whose pages you block stop showing in romy.
